Membership Moment
By Angela Bendorf Jamison, TOCA Membership Chairman
TOCA membership is currently at 220, which means we've reached our goal of 50 new members in two years. While that's good news, we can't stop our recruiting efforts. I hope as a member, you will once again spread the word about the many benefits of TOCA and help recruit those organizations and individuals who are missing out on all this association has to offer.
Areas of the green industry that we are targeting for our membership efforts this year are the Greenhouse/Nursery and Equipment sectors. We know there are potential TOCA members in those sectors who haven't joined. So if you know anyone, please personally invite them to join TOCA.
Better yet, if they will be attending the Green Industry Show in Orlando, bring them as a guest to the free TOCA Membership Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 4, 7-8:30 a.m. at the Rosen Center, Salon V. Dow AgroSciences is sponsoring this event. It's a chance for them to meet other TOCA members and see first-hand the value of membership. We will once again have a breakfast at the Golf Course Superintendents annual show in Atlanta in 2006, as well. Watch for details on that in the next issue of TOCA Talk.
The membership committee plans to offer incentives once again this year for anyone recruiting new members. Cash prizes and gifts will be given during the TOCA annual conference in Napa Valley to anyone who recruits one or more members to join TOCA. Be sure the folks you recruit list your name on the membership form they complete, or call/email Den Gardener alerting him about any new members you bring on board.
TOCA is a success thanks to you, our dues-paying members who spread the word about what you get out of this great association. Thank you to those volunteers who are part of the TOCA Membership Committee: Suz Trusty, Trusty & Associates; Sue Porter, Questex Media Group; Nicole Wisniewski, Lawn & Landscape; Will Zweigart, Epley Associates; Mark Founds, Trone; and MJ Gilhooley, Gilhooley Consulting.
